First Completed Canvas Painting!
After almost a year-and-4-months of on and off painting, I finally finished my first canvas piece!!!! Ladies and gentlemen, I give you vocalist Ruki from the GazettE as seen in the COCKROACH PV! (*＾▽＾)／

I actually did this picture as part of a perspective
project for a private art class I take every Tuesday night and
although I've been attending these lessons for a number of years now,
this my first finished canvas piece. I have two canvases that are uncompleted even though I started them before this piece. XD And, I finished it just in time for the exhibition last week. XD
I've never really been sure what I've thought of Ruki's red velvet suit and hat since it looks positively ridiculous in the COCKROACH PV but then again, pretty decent in the August 2005 Issue of Fools Mate.
Then I came across the picture with the pose as seen above and
instantly thought how awesome he looked at that tilted angle - I love
the way they pulled it off since it works so well with the concept of
the PV. Naturally, I thought I'd like to paint it. =)
Overall, I'm really happy with the way it turned out since I was stressing a little. Having painted the suit and hat first, I was afraid I'd mess up my painting when doing the face and hair but that seemed to turn out alright...although both could do with a little more workeven if there is a glare in the above photograph of my painting.
Yes, I am a perfectionist [Isn't every artist?] and the biggest pet
peeve I had with this picture is how it just collected so much dust.
Even if I had worked on it that day, there was dust sticking to the wet
paint! >_< Maybe that's what gives the suit it's texture? XD
At first, I wasn't sure whether I was going to use the blue sequined gems I had for the eyes or the pointed studs for the jacket but once I stuck the gems down I thought I might as well finish my painting to the last very detail and so used the studs. I didn't want to cut into my canvas to screw them in in case I made a mistake so I glued them on instead. Haha, I had so much fun putting in these details! I think they really tie the painting together! (^.^)
I'm really satisfied with this painting and will be more than happy to have Ruki hanging on my wall ♥! :3
P.S Everyone refers to the subject matter as a "she" whilst I automatically say "he". XD

Though, I have always thought that Ruki's famous red suit and hat outfit looked awfully familiar to something Imai Hisashi (from Buck-Tick) wore ages ago...!
Haha, well it'd definitely be cool to do more J-rock paintings but my creative well is currently taking a strain because all the school art projects. I think if ever I did another piece of fanart it'd probably be a pencil drawing. =)
And the painting is pretty impressive - I love the texture on his suit, it really does look like velvet!

Haha, well, I have a poster of Miyavi on my wall from when I went to see him live in Taiwan last year...I have a spare if you'd like? =D
